Spanish pronunciation – Spanish phonetics
In our previous lesson I talked about Spanish pronunciation. I dedicated that class to present a few specially hazardous words in Spanish that are particularly difficult for English speakers to pronounce. If you haven’t watched lesson 261 yet, I recommend you to click on the link.
In this class I will introduce a few more Spanish words. These are not particularly difficult ones. But they are super common words that you’d better learn. And I’ll stress how these words and syllables are to pronounced if you want to grab the Spanish pronunciation properly.
To learn and practice Spanish pronunciation or Spanish phonetics, it is of utmost importance to know how the word is separated in syllables. Then, we need to pronounce each one syllable at a time correctly.
In Spanish you do not need to know how the next syllable begins in order to pronounce the previous one correctly. Therefore, start by taking your time to pronounce each syllable well.
Spanish pronunciation – Words to practice:
- RESPONSABLE (responsible): res-pon-sa-ble
- IRRESPONSABLE (irresponsible): i-rres-pon-sa-ble
- JUEGO (game / I play): jue-go
- JUGAR (to play): ju-gar
- OTOÑO (autumn): o-to-ño
- NIÑO (boy / child): ni-ño
I will continue posting more lessons about Spanish pronunciation.
